Dr. Jeff Williams is a board certified Gastroenterologist. He graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in Biochemistry. He completed medical school and his residency at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. After Emory, Dr. Williams left Georgia and headed north where he completed his fellowship at the esteemed University of Virginia. Dr. Williams specialized in Biliary Disease and ERCP procedures while attending the University of Virginia.
Dr. Williams started his career at Dekalb Gastroenterology. Next, he moved to Texas where he was Director of Endoscopy at Trinity Mother Frances in Tyler, Texas. Dr. Williams, with his vast knowledge and experience, moved back to Georgia in 2006. Shortly after moving back to the Classic City Dr. Williams opened his own practice, Athens Gastroenterology Association P.C. with the desire to serve and meet the gastrointestinal needs of Athens and the surrounding counties. Once AGA was up and running, Dr. Williams expanded his practice in 2010 by building his own Certified Ambulatory Surgery Center, Athens Gastroenterology Endoscopy Center. The surgery center allows you to have procedures in the comfort and caring atmosphere of a private facility. Dr. Williams has over 23 years of experience, and is known for his cheerful and optimistic attitude. He is a passionate and caring Physician who will go above and beyond for your medical care.
Dr. Williams is very active in Mercy Health Center, a Christian based health care organization in Athens, Georgia. Additionally he is involved with Fish Medical located in Monroe, Georgia, also a Christian based clinic for patients in that area. He is affiliated with the Medical College of Georgia where he mentors and teaches medical students.
Dr. Williams’ interests include traveling with his wife and four kids, all things sports, and Classic Cars. He likes studying history, medicine, and economics. When not attending to patients, he is very active in his kids activities. He is known as “master of the grill” and enjoys cooking delicious dishes for his family, friends, and office staff. He likes to spend his free time playing golf and has a passion for helping others.
Kayla Weaver (Crocker) is an NCCPA Certified Physician Assistant and a member of the Georgia Association of Physician Assistants. She received her undergraduate degree in Biology from Piedmont College.
Upon graduating from Piedmont she taught high school science at Stephens County High School. While teaching, Kayla earned a Master of Arts in Education from Piedmont College. After three years of teaching, she decided to pursue her dream in the medical field. Kayla attended Medical College of Georgia (currently known as Augusta University) in Augusta where she received a Master of Physician Assistant studies in 2010. Since graduation, Kayla has been practicing as a Physician Assistant in Gastroenterology.
Kayla is a native of Toccoa, Georgia and now resides in Commerce, Georgia with her husband, Brad. They enjoy traveling and spending time with their families.
Andrea joined Athens Gastroenterology Association in 2018. After earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Armstrong Atlantic State University she worked as a Registered Nurse in geriatrics and long term care.
She went on to earn her Master of Science in Nursing at Emory University. She has worked in Women’s Health, Interventional Spine and Pain, and Orthopedics as an advanced practice provider. She is joint certified as a Nurse Practitioner in Adult Health and Women’s Health, accredited by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and National Certification Corporation.
She brings with her 10 years of healthcare experience in pharmacy, nursing, and advanced practice provision.
She is an Oconee County High School Graduate and also resides there with her family. When she’s not working she enjoys spending time with her husband and young son and daughter. She also recently completed her first marathon and is looking forward to completing more.
Bringing 23 years of nursing experience to the team, Jamie Williams joined Athens Gastroenterology in July of 2012 and assists Dr. Williams as a Nurse Practitioner in our Athens and Commerce offices.
After completing her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from Georgia Regents University (formerly the Medical College of Georgia) in Augusta, Jamie worked at St. Mary’s Health Care System, Inc., serving as a Charge Nurse in the Intensive Care Unit, Cardiology Coordinator of Cardiovascular Services and helped establish one of the first Electrophysiology programs in the Athens area. She also served as research coordinator for several post market cardiac rhythm management studies. She returned to GRU’s Family Nurse Practitioner program to complete her Master’s of Science in Nursing. During this time, she worked as a staff nurse for cardiothoracic surgery at the Emory Clinic Athens campus.
Jamie is a Board Certified Nurse Practitioner by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. She is licensed as a Registered Nurse as well as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse with the Georgia Board of Nursing. Jamie is a member of the United Advanced Practice Registered Nurses of Georgia.
Jamie is from Danielsville, GA and attended Madison County High School. She currently lives in Jefferson. In her spare time, Jamie enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, listening to music, and attending her daughter’s’ softball & volleyball games. She recently completed her first half marathon.
